The accidental coastal woman

That’s me. I find myself straddling two worlds. One, the fast paced, stylish runway fashion world, and the other, the soft paced, veggie, rural life here on the West coast of fairyland. It is beautiful, where I live, and I get lulled into this comforting harvest of a day to day, picking my own Caprese salad, and dodging the poop of hundreds of swallows who took up residence this summer on our house. This contrasts violently with my front row seat at a Spring/Summer NY fashion show, picking my own trends, and dodging the paps, (well, should they be interested!) How to balance without resorting to meds?

When I am in NY, I dress, you know, I DRESS! Just for myself, and so I don’t get thrown off the subway. It is fun, it’s street theater; Madison Ave ladies and the Soho boho. I get so inspired by what people wear, Simon Doonan’s Barneys window display, the street vendors, (a dollar for, like, 90 tube socks) and Topshop/Uniqlo/Bendel’s. All genius stuff.

It can be hard to dress for the swallows. They’re not always so discerning. Besides, they’ve all gone to Capri now. Or the Hamptons.

My neighbor has chickens………. I rest my case.
